I noticed that the dials were frozen, or more specifically, the tuning capacitors were frozen. I pulled off one of the vernier tuning plates. Everything is ok there. I heavily lubed the juction points of the caps and worked them back and forth and they loosened up.

There are 2 interstage transformers and luckily they test good. I think the biggest challenge with this set is 'rewinding' a variometer inner coil where the windings have loosened up. I've taped them temporarily to hold them in place.
I need to unsolder one connection at the bottom of the coil, and then loosen the small retaining bushing. It came off very easily - now the hard part
The bottom coil came together pretty easily. I put a bead of glue in a few places around the coil to hold the windings in place. The top coil was another matter...

I was unable to get the coils to cooperate, so I decide to cut it near the top and rewind it by hand. I then resoldered the cut end to the form.
Not a beauty, but it should work ok. Now to put it back, plug in some tubes, a speaker and a power supply to test it.
And...IT WORKS!! Now I'm going to focus on some cosmetics.
I used Gold Leaf Rub 'n Buff to bring back the color on the tuning dials
The case is in pretty good shape. I'm going to clean it up and give it a couple of coats of clear lacquer. The face plate gets shined with Meguiars Plastix polish.
